It’s been a very long time since I last sat down to write here.
Life has a way of moving quickly, and before you know it, months – sometimes years – pass between moments of reflection. But lately, I’ve found myself in a new season of life, one that feels both challenging and exciting: returning to study.
Going back to university after time away hasn’t been easy. Relearning how to study, write academically, and even reference properly has felt like starting again in many ways. For example since I last studied, APA6 has changed to APA7. I applied for Recognition of Prior Learning and received a credit or exemption for 6 units. As I had previously completed 12 units I was quite disappointed, however I have chosen to see it as a positive and a chance to renew my skills training and learning.
I’m currently studying nursing (again!), with the goal of becoming a Registered Nurse in the aged care sector. Working in aged care has already shown me how meaningful this path is, and returning to study feels like an important step toward making a bigger difference in the lives of others.
I’ve just finished my first two units. The structure is different this time around. It has changed from 4 units delivered over 12 weeks to 2 units delivered over 6 weeks which for me makes full time study much more manageable.
Another big part of my life over the past year and a half has been my two little companions – my sausage dogs. Sugar was born August 28th 2024 and Shadow was born March 26th 2025. They’ve brought so much joy, chaos, and comfort into my daily routine. Whether it’s their stubborn personalities, their love of cuddles (Velcro dogs! Especially Shadow!), or their ability to make even the most stressful study days better, they’ve become such a special part of my journey. I plan to add more of our journey to my blog as time allows.
I’m hoping to share more here moving forward – not just about study and nursing, but also little glimpses into life with my dogs, the everyday moments, and everything in between.
